3rd Annual Silmaril Awards Ceremony // Nomination Round! (CLOSED!)

SilmarilAwards2018

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR NOMINATIONS! WE WILL NOW BEGIN THE TALLYING PROCESS AND VOTING WILL START ON MONDAY!

Hello friends! So, I feel really bad for being such a bad blogger and not posting as frequently as I feel I should be. But hopefully this post makes up for it!

Because…

*drum-roll please*

IT’S SILMARIL TIME! That’s right, it’s finally here! And I can’t wait to see you all go wild in the comments!! πŸ˜€

This year, I will be hosting The Most Epic Heroine Silmaril! This award should go to the heroine who is brave in the face of danger. Who isn’t afraid to risk her life for her friends. Who is smart. Resourceful. Wise. Kind. And an all-around amazing person.

Before you scurry over to the comment section, there are a few things you need to know:

 ~~~
β€’ Authors may not nominate their own characters. Sorry guys. 😦 But you are more than welcome to encourage your fans to nominate them!
β€’ Anyone can second any character, even if it’s their own! The more seconds a character gets, the more chances they have of making it into the big-five voting round!
β€’ Nominations are allowed for FANTASY BOOK characters only! Movie characters aren’t allowed unless the book came FIRST (e.g. The Princess Bride). We DO give a bit of leeway in the fantasy/sci-fi spectrum. If a good argument can be made as to WHY the book is technically fantasy, we will allow it (e.g. The Lunar Chronicles. Since they are actually fairy-tale retellings, and they have an element of magic, they are allowed).
β€’ Characters who have already won a Silmaril in previous years are not permitted to win the award again. They are instead part of the “Lifetime” Hall of Fame for that specific award. (Lucy Pevensie won last year’s awards, so she will not be eligible.)
β€’ Characters from any of Tolkien’s books (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, etc.) are NOT allowed to be nominated, as most of them will be presenting at the awards ceremony. How awkward would it be for them to have to present themselves with the award?
    1. I think it’s urban fantasy? I don’t know if that category counts though…Stiefvater is kind of a genre unto herself xD I would say yes.
          1. Currently? LOL I’ve changed my mind nearly a dozen times throughout the series so far. As of finishing Nightfall, I’m team Foster-Keefe. How about you, Mya?
        1. I’ve only read up to Lodestar so far πŸ˜› but I have preordered Nightfall and I am waiting in agony for it to arrive come October.
          1. Preordered? I thought Nightfall’s been out for a while now, and it’s Flashback, book #7, that we’re waiting to come out. Or are there two different release dates, a US one and a international one?
            Anyho, I’m glad you’re enjoying them!
          2. It’s already out in hardback, but the paperback isn’t out yet and I wanted that one instead…haha. So I preordered that one (due to drop in October) as well as Flashback. XD
          3. So you’ll get the special short story written from Fritz’s POV that’s only in the pre-order paperbacks. *sniffs* I’m dying to know what’s in it.
      1. Oooooh, yes, you do! Nadine Brandes writes in genres I don’t typically read or enjoy, but with a unique flare and talent that causes me to fall in love with the story despite myself. XD
        And, yes, Kate! It’s been years since I read the books, but her character still stands out vividly to me.
        1. I was going to ask what the experts think, but it seems to me, based on all your comments, that the Out of Time trilogy is solidly in the dystopian genre. That’s too bad. I suppose I shouldn’t count her eligible for the title, however epic of a heroine she may be. 😦
