The Marvel Cinematic Universe Tag

HELLO guys! So, as some of you probably, almost positively know, AVENGERS: ENDGAME IS OUT IN THEATERS TODAY. I’m not freaking out, you’re freaking out.

the muppets panic GIF

To celebrate this long-awaited day, I bring you an EPIC tag made by the EPIC Christine (you should check out her new WordPress blog, it is GORGEOUS). She was kind enough to tag me (THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRISTINE AGGGHHH), and so I will be answering her hopefully-not-to-difficult questions!

Guidelines //

  • Feel free to include the above graphic somewhere in your post (but it’s definitely not necessary).
  • Take the questions and answer them on your blog (or social media or wherever!)
  • Tag up to 5 other Marvel fans!

Let’s dig right into this!

• How were you introduced into the MCU fandom?

Well, this one’s relatively easy. When I was fifteen, my parents suggested me and my brother should watch the Marvel movies. I had never seen any of them, but everyone I knew seemed to love them (they particularly liked Iron Man).

And so it was as simple as that. For the next few weeks, we watched through all the movies, right up until Avengers: Age of Ultron, which I went to see in theaters. My FIRST Marvel movie I saw in theaters. It was a magical experience. I’ve gone to see every movie in theaters since.

• What’s your favorite Marvel film?

ARE YOU KIDDING. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE?

Okay, let’s see if I can narrow this down. XD

Captain America: Civil War was one I really, really enjoyed. Seeing this huge gathering of superheroes for the first time was super neat. And, I mean…Bucky Barnes. Need I see more? I still think about him grabbing that motorcycle and speeding away. That was epic. Bucky is epic.

Sebastian Stan Are You Telling Me Thats The Face He Was Making Under That Mask GIF
also this knife flip is pretty neato

Spider-Man: Homecoming is another favorite. Tom Holland is an AMAZING Spider-Man, and he did SUCH a great performance. If Marvel seemed unrealistic, with world-threatening villains and insane superheroes, Homecoming was the movie to bring things back down to earth. Peter is just an average Joe, just like me, and I loved that I could relate to him.

Doctor Strange is also a really great movie. At first, I was hesitate. This was a character I had barely heard of before, but I liked Benedict Cumberbatch and the movie promised wizards and magic, so I figured it was worth a try. And it was. It was AWESOME. Almost reminiscent of Inception at times (which is one of my FAVORITE movies), and with lots of emotion and action, it was the perfect fit for me.

But, if I’m being honest…I think Thor: Ragnarok is probably my favorite of the MCU. It just works. The humor. The characters. The settings. It all just comes together perfectly for an epic movie. (And…well, Thor and Loki are in it, so…I was just bound to like it. XD)

Tom Hiddleston Hello GIF

• Top favorite Marvel character?

I LOVE THEM ALL. Can I just not choose? XD

Okay, let’s see. I really like Bucky Barnes, Stephen Strange, and Peter Parker. But my absolute favorite…would probably be a tie between Loki and Thor. I’M KIND OF A SUCKER FOR BROTHER STORIES. SO. YEAH. Also, how could you not like them, I mean look at that hair.

Wall Hh Holmes GIF

the avengers thor GIF
i know his hair is short now but shhh it’s still amazing

• If you were transported into the MCU and had to trade places with one of the superheroes, who would you choose?

OOH, I like this question! Hmm…I might pick Spider-Man. I think that would be pretty neat. That’d be a pretty chill role. Kind of. Okay, maybe not really. Maybe Hawkeye? Except I would lose the weird haircut. No offense, Clint. XD

Marvel Studios GIF

• What are some of your favorite quotes from the films?

Pietro Maximoff Marvel GIF

Infinity War Avengers GIF

Understand Captain America GIF

Spider Man Homecoming GIF

Civil War GIF

Captain America GIF

It Sucks Infinity War GIF

I could literally go on for hours. Marvel has some excellent dialogue.

• Which crew would you want to be part of the most: Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Revengers?

Though I would love being Avenger, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to be on the same team as Thor, Loki, Bruce, and Valkyrie. Come on guys, let’s be real. They would be the most fun people to hang with.

Thor Ragnarok GIF by Marvel Studios

• Favorite and least favorite ship?

Getting to the juicy stuff, are we? XD

Gosh, there are soooo many possible couples in the MCU. I think Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne‘s relationship is pretty gosh darn cute. Although, so are Peter Quill and Gamora…And Tony and Pepper…AGH. I CAN’T CHOOSE.

I do have one specifically that I don’t like, however. And that would be Sharon and Cap. Like, if there was ONE thing I didn’t like about Civil War, it was that stupid kiss scene. Like, really? RIGHT AFTER PEGGY’S FUNERAL? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Captain America Nuts GIF
ARE YOU, CAP?!

Also, Bruce and Natasha…just doesn’t really appeal to me either. It’s just kinda meh. And it seems like the directors of Infinity War realized that, because they seem to TOTALLY shrug off the fact that they had feelings for each other.

• Favorite and least favorite villain?

*ahem*

Um. Prepare yourself.

This will probably come as a shock to you.

Ready?

LOKI IS THE BEST VILLAIN. END OF DISCUSSION.

Harry Potter Loki GIF

Although, can he even really be called a ‘villain’ anymore? XD

Infinity War Avengers GIF
he’s basically a hero, right?

Least favorite would probably be Thanos. I just wanna punch him in his raisiny little mug.

Head GIF
ARGH I HATE YOU

• Unpopular MCU opinion?

It would probably be the fact that I really liked Age of Ultron and Thor: The Dark World. They both seem to be universally disliked among Marvel fans, but I really enjoyed them! I thought Age of Ultron was a fun movie that raised the stakes and played right into Civil War, plus we get to see two new epic characters!

Love Them Elizabeth Olsen GIF

The Dark World had some genuinely great parts! Everything that takes place in Asgard was pure fun to watch, Loki was a stellar actor, and that sneaky ending, with Loki sitting on the throne, always makes me smile.

Tom Hiddleston Marvel GIF
this is gold? like, hello??

• What’s your favorite Stan Lee cameo scene?

I really think all of them are good. The ones in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok are quite funny. And the one from Captain America: Civil War always cracks me up. XD

Stan Lee Film GIF

It isn’t TECHNICALLY the MCU, but I also think the one at the end of Big Hero 6 is pretty hilarious.

And that’s the tag!

Thank you so much Christine for creating this epic tag and thinking of me when you were tagging people!

And now, I shall tag // Laurel @ We’ll Be Fine | Kenzie @ Smudged Thoughts | and Faith @ The Writer’s Song

I hope you enjoyed! If you’re a Marvel fan, PLEASE consider yourself tagged. And let me know if the comments down below if you’re freaking out because AGH ENDGAME IS UPON US. O_o

The Fandom Tag // by None Other Than…Me

The Fandom Tag

Hello friends! Wow…what is it with me and coming up with tags…? Is there something wrong with me? XD

Friends Im Fine GIF

Let’s not dwell on that fact, and instead delve into my latest creation! Since Valentine’s is fast approaching, I thought this would be a great time to talk about the things we (or at least I) really love!

Doctor Who Fandom GIF

Rules //

• Include the graphic somewhere in your post!

• Answer the questions!

• Tag two fangirls (or boys, I suppose!)

(If you don’t know what a fandom is, it’s basically a group of fans of a particular thing, like Star Wars or Harry Potter.)

~

Le Questions //

  • What’s the first fandom you remember becoming a part of?
  • What’s the newest fandom you’ve come to enjoy?
  • What’s a fandom guaranteed to give you feels?
  • What’s a guilty pleasure fandom of yours?
  • What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve heard of/are a part of?
  • Favorite popular/widely-known fandom?
  • Favorite bookish fandom?
  • What do you consider your ‘homebase’, a fandom you can always come back to?
  • What’s a fandom you know all about…but aren’t actually into it?
  • Which fandom has the best characters?
  • Name your all-time favorite ship.
  • What’s a fandom you’re curious about joining?

~

• What’s the first fandom you remember becoming a part of?

Though I didn’t really know what a fandom was at the time, Disney and Pixar have been around for me since I was, well, born. I grew up watching the classic Disney movies, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin, in particular. And I remember watching Monsters Inc., Toy Story, and The Incredibles many times too. I guess you could say it was the start of an obsession for obsessions…XD

aladdin GIF

• What’s the newest fandom you’ve come to enjoy?

That would be Over the Garden Wall! It’s a very short mini series, only ten episodes long, about two brothers who get lost in the forest. It’s surprisingly deep for a cartoon, and the animation is gorgeous. If you have an evening, give it a watch, it’s quite entertaining.

president speech GIF

• What’s a fandom guaranteed to give you feels?

That would be Undertale. I’m sure you’ve heard of it, it’s an epic video game with wonderful characters and a crazy, twisted story that you don’t figure right away. Getting to know the characters and how the game works is what really makes my heart hurt. And the fans don’t help with this in making some awesome fan art and fan fictions. It’s a deep, twisty game that will have you crying and laughing at the same time.

• What’s a guilty pleasure fandom of yours?

Pen Pineapple Apple Pen Wiki GIF

• What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve heard of or are a part of?

There are so many weird things out there, but to give a classic answer, I’ll say Gravity Falls. It’s the definition of weird. There’s unexplained phenomena. There’s weird and wonderful creatures. There are deep, dark secrets. There are crazy, but lovable characters. THE WHOLE WORLD ALMOST–you know what? Never mind. I’ll let you watch it. You’ll love it, trust me.

Gravity Falls GIF
It also has the best gifs, so…yeah. There is that. XD

• Favorite popular/widely-known fandom?

That’d be the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit. I’m fairly sure almost everyone in the world has heard of this, and for a good reason. Though I’ve only seen the movies, I’ve come to love the characters SO MUCH. It’s magical, it’s epic, and it has Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortenson, so really how can you lose? (Thorin is myyy preeeecious.)

The Hobbit Thorin GIF

• Favorite bookish fandom?

The Lunar Chronicles!! CRESS IS A DARLING AND THORNE IS A JERK BUT I LOVE HIM. Also, WOLF AND SCARLET ARE SO ADORABLE. AND JACIN AND WINTER AGGGGHHHH. *ahem* Yes. I really like the Lunar Chronicles.

• What do you consider your ‘homebase’, a fandom you can always come back to?

Gosh, who made these questions so hard? (Me. It was me.) It would probably be the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I started watching in 2015, and I remember going to the theater with a big group of people to see Avengers: Age of Ultron. I had watched the previous movies in order with my family, but it was when I saw that movie that I really started loving it. And I’ve seen every Marvel movie in theaters since. It’s a very comforting, familiar fandom for me. (EVEN THOUGH IT’S KIND OF ON FIRE RIGHT NOW BUT IT’S OKAY EVERYTHING’S FINE.)

The End Endgame GIF

• What’s a fandom you know all about…but aren’t actually into it?

That would be Star Wars, for me. I watched the prequels, (well, kind of…I kinda skipped over the third one because I was cringing too much…XD), and I know the entire original story and all about the newer installments. So I know everything. I’m just…not that in love with it. It’s fun, and goofy, and entertaining, but…it doesn’t quite grip me like other movies or books have.

Yoda GIF

• Which fandom has the best characters?

ALL OF THEM. ALL OF THEM ARE GOOD. Ugh, if I really had to choose though…It’d be a three-way tie between Undertale, Marvel, and the Lunar Chronicles. IT’S TOO HARD. Why did I make these questions so hard? XD

• Name your all-time favorite ship.

Hm. NYAGH THERE ARE SO MANY. But I pick Cress and Thorne, because I think they’re really cute and they both support each other so well, her being quiet and whimsical and naive, and him being rough and cocky and a joker. It mixes so beautifully, I could cry. Cress + Thorne =

Ship Fandom GIF

• What’s a fandom you’re curious about joining?

Sherlock! All I hear is how amazing it is, and I want in on some of the epic-ness! Though I worry for my mental health’s sake…too much emotional trauma may just ruin me… Tell me below if this is a good idea, please. XD

That’s the tag! I nominate Deborah @ The Road of a Writer, Christine @ Musings of an Elf, and Kenzie @ Smudged Thoughts for this tag! And if you’d like to do this tag, feel free! I’d love to see what fandoms you love the most! ^_^ Also, there will be no post next week, since I’ll be on vacation!

Three Bookish Things Tag

three bookish things tag

Hello friends! I have a bit of a shorter, more laid-back post for you this week, becaaaaause… I’ve been working on my newly announced movie review blog, getting some shiny new posts up and ready for the release date! I’m pretty darn excited about it. XD

But on to today’s post, a tag! Shocking! I know! I almost never do tags! XD I feel like tags are always what I fall back on when I have no ideas for posts, but I’M NOT ASHAMED. It’s nice to have a pre-planned post every once in a while, ‘kay?

‘Kay. Let’s do this.

I originally saw this on Cait’s blog, and she said she got it off of Instagram…so…not entirely sure about the rules…I know you list three bookish things…And that’s the extent of my knowledge. But let’s just jump into the questions, maybe I’ll tag a few people at the end, I don’t know, we’ll see.

ANNNNNNND GO.

• 3 Favorite Authors

Oh my word, HOW. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION. Maybe this tag was a bad idea…XD

Okay, let’s see…

Marissa Meyer writes one of my most favorite series of all time, she’s pretty neat.

• I have to give credit to Shannon Hale, since she’s the one who got me into reading. Her Princess Academy books, and her Books of Bayern will always stick with me.

• Oof. I think the last one is a tie between Anne Elisabeth Stengl and Heather Dixon. I LOVE Anne’s Tales of Goldstone Wood, but Heather writes some AWESOME standalones, particularly Illusionarium…AGH. I can’t choose.

• 3 Weirdest Things Used as a Bookmark

Oooooh, this is an interesting question!

• I’ve definitely used napkins before. They weren’t dirty, of course.

• I use library receipts waaaay more than I’d rather admit to. XD

• Hmm…I think I used a popsicle stick one time. And it wasn’t a clean one. It was one where I had just finished the popsicle part. I was a little kid, okay? Don’t judge.

• 3 Series Binged

This one’s kind of hard, because I’m usually waiting for the next books to come out, so I really can’t binge read. But…

• I remember binge-rereading the Lunar Chronicles a while back. I should really do that again…

• The Bright Empires series (by Stephen R. Lawhead)! I can’t say I reeeally binged it, I remember reading a different book or two in between some of them, but I got through the whole series pretty quick.

• And when I was little one summer I zipped through the Magic Treehouse books in a matter of days. That was fun. Kinda miss that.

• 3 Characters You Love

This is so hard because there are so many characters I love so dearly! But here are some that stuck out in my mind.

Carswell Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles is my favorite roguish bad boy in fiction. He likes to pretend he’s a hardened tough guy, but he’s actually just a soft marshmallow underneath.

Rin from Forest Born (by Shannon Hale) was a really inspirational character for me when I was younger. She didn’t really know her place in the world, and she felt so alone and scared. I used to get really scared and anxious when I was a kid, and knowing that I wasn’t alone was a real comfort to me.

• I think this is a three-way tie for Kell (from A Darker Shade of Magic), Percy (from Percy Jackson), and Leo/Lionheart/Leonard (from Tales of Goldstone Wood). Kell is a character I’ve recently come to love, as is Percy, and Leo…well, he’s Leo. You know what I mean if you’ve read the books. He’s just a human. Trying to figure things out. Sometimes Usually making mistakes.

• 3 Unpopular Bookish Opinions

Young Adult is an AGE GROUP, not a GENRE. It’s a category, like Children or Adult. It always annoys me on websites like Barnes and Noble or Amazon when they list all the book genres and then stick ‘YA’ at the end. 😛

• I…didn’t really like Archenemies (by Marissa Meyer). I loved Renegades, but Archenemies just felt like the same story over again, except with more romance between Adrian and Nova. 😦

I don’t really like contemporary books. They seem really dull and boring to me. If I wanted to read about realistic life…why wouldn’t I just go out and live?

• 3 Popular Bookish Opinions

I love deckled edges! I think it makes a reading experience even more magical!

E-books will always be inferior to a real, physical book. Always. Not that e-books are bad or anything, I have like a hundred of them. XD I’ll just always prefer a real book.

Nothing is better than a shiny new copy of a book! I will buy used copies, or get them from the library, but nothing beats a new book.

• 3 Favorite Book Covers

There are soooo many gorgeous ones…how can I choose just three?!

220552622031246236576048

• 3 Book Goals for the Year

Try to read 30 books!

Read some more outside of my main genre (fantasy, in case you didn’t know, but you probably did). I’d like to dip into some historical fiction, some sci-fi, maybe even a bit of contemporary…despite what I said above. Just ignore that. XD

Read some of the e-books I have on my Nook! I’m so bad about keeping up with these. I have so many I’ve gotten for free and there are so many I’ve bought too. I need to get through some of them this year.

Well, there you go, the Three Bookish Things tag! I think I shall tag Kenzie @ Smudged Thoughts, Laurel @ We’ll Be Fine, and Faith @ The Writer’s Song.

The Bibliophile Sweater Tag

Hello fellow bloggers! Some of you many know that I live in the cold, cold state of Minnesota. And it is with deep remorse, that I must announce…that it is snowing. And not just gentle, fluffy flakes. No, no, no. The wind is pounding on my windowpane and my house is creaking and shuffling around, already settling for the winter.

BUT IT’S NOT WINTER. Did the weather fairy not know that? It’s not supposed to be SNOWING four days before Halloween. -_-

But anyway, I do have a point to this rant. With it being so cold, the time of sweaters and long sleeves have come. And I since Mary over at Sunshine and Scribblings tagged me to do her lovely tag, and it’s about sweaters…Well, it just made sense. 🙂 Thank you Mary! *sends a hug over the internet*

The Rules

– Give the person who tagged you a never-ending supply of cookies (or just thank them – either works)
– Answer all the questions and use the blog graphic for this tag somewhere in your post
– Pass along the tag to at least five other people
– Wear a sweater (okay, this is optional…but why wouldn’t you want to??)

fuzzy sweater // a book that is the epitome of comfort

 85990

Princess Academy by Shannon Hale is the very first ‘big kid’ book I remember reading, and it’s really what got me interested in reading. I’ve reread it many times and it will always make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. ^_^

striped sweater // a book which you devoured every line of

23299513

I like to think I devour the lines of every book, but to be particular, one of the most recent books that I absolutely ate up was The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine. It just tickled me pink in all the right ways. 🙂

ugly christmas sweater // a book with a weird cover

65091

Definitely this cover for The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker. It’s just so aesthetically unpleasing, with the weird pink color and the stock photo frog. It just doesn’t make my eyes happy.

cashmere sweater // most expensive book you’ve bought

29772863

*picks through bookshelves* That would have to Wires and Nerves by Marissa Meyer at a whopping $22! But believe me, it was TOTALLY worth it. SO. GOOD.

hoodie // a favorite classic book

20893528

I do so immensely enjoy Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It’s a very homey, comforting book, plus, I have THIS beautiful edition.

cardigan // a book that you bought on impulse

23013689

I buy a lot of books on impulse… XD But one that I had absolutely no prior knowledge of would have to be The Lost Track of Time by Paige Britt. I found it in our old used bookstore in wonderful condition, so I picked it up. While it wasn’t my favorite, it was still cute and enjoyable.

turtleneck sweater // a book from your childhood

56471

I remember getting this book as a Christmas present from my grandparents many years ago. The illustrations (by Gail de Marcken) are whimsical and beautiful and the story (by Jeff Brumbeau) is even more gorgeous.

homemade knitted sweater // a book that is indie-published

26793603

This is a wonderful book published by my blogging friend C.B. Cook. I was following her serial story on her blog up until she got it published. It’s so awesome to be able to hold a physical copy in my hand! ❤

v-neck sweater // a book that did not meet your expectations

22215757

I had HIIIIIGH hopes for this one. I mean, it was written by STAN LEE. HELLO. But sadly, it didn’t quite wow me the way I thought it would. 😦

argyle sweater // a book with a unique format

23395680

I am definitely saying Illuminae by Amy Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. SUCH a cool format! The story is told in documents, chat room conversations, and various other forms of communication. It was so fun to read!

polka dot sweater // a book with well-rounded characters

13722513

Okay, so some of you may have seen this coming…BUT SERIOUSLY. SUUUCH good characterization!! I could rave about this series forever. 😀

Alright, now to tag some people! I tag…

Kate @ Story and Dark Chocolate

Jenelle Schmidt

Grace @ Pure and True

and Deborah @ The Road of a Writer

Thank you again, Mary for such a fun tag! And FYI, I am wearing a sweater. It’s gray with black and pink sleeves. 😉 How are you all enjoying fall? Has it snowed where you live yet? PLEASE SAY IT HASN’T. Let me know down below!

The Writer’s Life Tag

Hey guys! I saw this tag going around a bit ago and thought it looked like so much fun! I don’t remember if I was tagged by anyone…oops. But, if I was, I thank the blogger who did! XD Now, onto the questions…

Write-Fuel: What do you eat/drink while writing?

Um, I don’t usually eat while writing. I wouldn’t get crumbs all over my precious laptop!

But I do like a drink while I write. I’ve been known to have cold tea, hot chocolate, bottled water, and lemonade whilst diddling away at the keys. 🙂

Write-Sounds: What do you listen to while writing?

I LOVE listening to music while I write. I listen to a lot of Pandora, (since YouTube is super distracting to me. XD ), but I have lots of playlists featuring Lindsey Stirling, David Garrett, ThePianoGuys, Alan Walker, and lots of intstrumental covers.

Write-Vice: What’s your most debilitating distraction?

THE INTERNET. YouTube, in particular. Once I enter into there, if I’m not careful and head safely to my playlists, it tends to have a blackhole effect. I may never return. XD Other sites known to keep me from writing are Pinterest, Goodreads, and WordPress. (That’s right. Sometimes, (okay, most times), I’d rather be blogging about writing, than actually writing…)

Write-Horror: What’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to you while writing?

One time, I thought my laptop would never turn back on. And this was before I had a thumbdrive, so it was even more panic-inducing. It just wouldn’t turn back on, even though I had thought the battery was full. Luckily, I managed to turn it back on and everything was still there. Thankfully, I haven’t had too many traumatic writing experiences.

Yet.

Write-Joy: What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you while writing, or how do you celebrate small victories?

Well, to answer the first question, I would have to say when I finished my very first draft. It was SO exciting! (Looking at it afterwards, I felt like cringing, but we won’t dwell on that. XD ) Also, whenever something that’s really been frustrating me, such as a character or a plot point, magically works itself out. That’s always wonderful. 🙂

I celebrate small victories by taking a break. Whatever I feel like doing, watching videos, stepping away from the computer and reading a book. But sometimes when I’m on a roll, I don’t want to stop. (Even though I maybe should…) I just keep writing and writing, words flying onto the paper. That’s an award in and of itself. ❤

Write-Crew: Who do you communicate with or not communicate with while writing?

I have a desk up in my room, so I don’t usually talk to anybody when I write. (Well, except myself.) I do like talking to people about it when I’m away from the desk. My family doesn’t usually understand what I’m talking about and why I’m so excited though. (Understandable, since I usually don’t exactly know what I’m talking about either. XD )

Write-Secret: What’s your writing secret to success or hidden flaw?

Once I figure out what the secret is, I’ll let you know. 😉

As for hidden flaw…well, I don’t know how hidden they are. XD But I do struggle a lot with imagery and description. I love the characters and dialogue and plot SO MUCH I usually tend to overlook the setting and such. Which is…not good, since that’s kind of an integral part of the story…But I’m working on it!

Also, procrastination is a thing.

Write-Spiration: What always makes you productive?

Hmm…Hearing a really interesting song, or reading a really good book, or watching a really good movie, or having a really interesting dream. It’s not a sure-fire thing, but that usually makes me motivated to write, which, in turn, makes me more productive. 🙂

Write-Peeve: What’s one thing writers do (or you do) that’s annoying?

Clichés like insta-love and ‘the chosen one’ tropes are SUPER annoying to me. Also, grandiose, unnecessary description is super frustrating too.

Write-Words: Share one sentence from a project, past or present.

Ooh, let’s see…

“Celthic?” Paige said, “Remember when I said that you were going to help me? Well…I don’t really have a plan…”

She saw his shoulders stiffen. “You brought me all this way…”

“…Well, technically you brought me…”

“…And you don’t have a plan?” He stopped walking and whirled around. “Are you insane?” he fumed.

“Fine, here’s my plan. We head to the Fortress, break in, rescue Markus, then escape. You can add embellishments where you see fit.”

“You’re infuriating.”

“You’re ridiculous.”

Celthic balled his hands into fists, his breathing shaky. “Why am I arguing with a child?”

“I’m fifteen!”

“I’m an adult!”

“Well good for you!”

That’s the tag! It was a lot of fun answering these questions! Do you listen to music while you write? What’s your writing pet peeve? Let me know down below!

Awards and Tags and Fun, Oh My! // The Sunshine Blogger Award and The Blue Sky Tag

twotags

Hello guys! I was recently nominated by Tracey over at her blog and Elise at E.E. Rawls and I thought all these questions looked like so much fun! Thank you again for nominating me, Tracey and Elise!

The rules are pretty simple:

The Sunshine Blogger Award ~

Answer 11 questions from your nominator, then tag 11 other bloggers, and ask them 11 new questions.

The Blue Sky Tag ~

Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their post. Answer the 11 questions. Tag 11 people. Give your nominees 11 questions to answer.

Let’s get to it!

The Sunshine Blogger Award ~

1. What’s the most addicting app on your phone?

I don’t actually have a phone (unless you count a flip-phone as one 😉 ), but I do have a Nook full of stuff. I would probably have to say the most addicting app right now is CrossStitchWorld. Yeah…I know. Kinda seems like a grandma game, but it’s really fun! I love seeing the picture come together in the end. 🙂

2. What’s a song that speaks to your life right now?

My music moods are different every day, so it’s hard for me to pick just one song. But, if I had to pick just one, it’d be Higher by Unspoken. It’s not only a really cool song, but it also reminds me that I should live my life to glorify the One who gave me this life. Even in the rough times. Especially in the rough times. ❤

3. Do you have a book or movie that’s your “happy place”–a fictional world into which you retreat when you need a breather? What is it?

I love escaping into any fictional world! But my favorite happy place would probably have to be any of the Pixar movies. I grew up loving them and I can remember watching Monsters Inc. in particular over and over again. They always put a smile on my face and I love them all so dearly! ❤

4. What’s a book you were (or are) looking forward to so much you’re scared to read it, for fear it won’t live up to your expectations?

Right now, I’m incredibly nervous to read The Fatal Tree, the last book on the Bright Empires series. I just cannot prepare myself for what’s going to happen, so I’m just going to have to take the plunge… *gulp*

Stephen R. Lawhead - The Fatal Tree / #awordfromJoJo #ChristianFiction:

5. If you had to have all of your past memories wiped except for one day, which day would you choose to remember?

Oh dear, that’s a toughie! Let’s see…I might choose a day out of one of my family vacations, the trip we took to South Dakota in particular. That was a really, really fun trip, and we were all together, having a great time with each other. I would never want to forget how close me and my family are. 🙂

6. What question would you like to ask one of your favorite authors?

These questions keep getting tougher and tougher! 😛 I’ve always wanted to ask Marissa Meyer a question, but I feel like I would just kinda go into fangirl mode and not be able to talk. XD Hmm…I think I’d ask Anne Elisabeth Stengl what helped her in keeping track while writing a series. That’s something I struggle with, and I think Anne does a good job of it.

Heartless by Anne Elisabeth Stengl (Tales of Goldstone Wood book 1):

7. If you had to describe yourself as one of the four seasons, which would it be?

Definitely fall. Or autumn, if you’re British. 😉 There’s just so much to love about it! Apple pie, pumpkin spice, hayrides, colorful leaves, cool, crisp air, the beginning of a new school year… It’s a wonderful time of year! ^_^

8. What’s your personality type? (Myers Briggs, DISC, whichever test you prefer.)

I’m a full on INFJ, according to the Myers Briggs test. Everything I’ve read about INFJs just fit me to a tee. Which is hard sometimes because I feel a bit lonely, being so rare and such… But I don’t mind. Too much, anyway. XD

9. An envelope containing $500 shows up on your doorstep. On what do you spend it?

Well, books, duh. XD

10. Would you rather be trapped in a lamp, a tower, or an enchanted sleep?

Ooh, I think I would pick a lamp! Wouldn’t I be a genie of some sort then? At least in my imprisonment, I would be able to help some poor souls instead of just wallowing miserably in my prison. 😛

11. Which Disney villain(ess) do you find the most scary?

When I was younger, I was absolutely terrified of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. The part where she turns into a dragon? We always skipped that part. XD Now that I’m older, I would probably say either Ursula from The Little Mermaid, or Scar from The Lion King.

The Blue Sky Tag ~

1. What is your first reaction when someone knocks on your door?

I usually jerk my head up and stare confusedly at my siblings because…we never have unexpected visitors. XD

2. Whose name makes you smile as soon as you hear it? Care to share why?

Well, any of my family’s names make me happy. And the name of Jesus Christ, of course. 🙂 I love hearing my characters’ names too, when I’m out and about and I overhear someone say one of their names. I love that when it happens. ❤

3. What exotic animal is your favorite?

I’m not sure if this counts as an exotic animal since it’s not technically real, but I’ve always thought phoenixes were super cool. A new bird rising from the ashes of the old, fiery wings, all that neat stuff. Or, you know, a dragon.

4. If you had to go on a trip to the moon, what book series would you take with you? (It can only be one!)

Comment below if I should read this. I'm not that sure if I want to so I need some suggestions.:

Well…I can tell you right now, I would try my hardest to get out of going on a trip to the moon. XD The stars from afar are good for me. But, I suppose if I had to, I would pick The Lunar Chronicles…Though, that may not be the best idea, since scary moon people are a involved…

5. Fairy tales or super heroes?

This is sooo hard! I love them both equally! I couldn’t possibly choose!

6. What’s the best book you’ve read lately?

A Singular and Whimsical Problem: Congrats to the Five Magic Spindles Winners!:

It’s actually the one I’m reading right now, Five Magic Spindles by various authors. I’ve loved all the stories so far and I’m so sad I’m on the last one! I’m going to be putting up a review of it pretty soon. 😉

7. Are you more like a Hobbit, Elf, Dwarf, Goblin, Ent, or Orc?

I’m definitely more like a Hobbit. They live in their cozy Hobbit holes and drink tea and read books. If I had a Hobbit hole, I would probably be labeled a Hobbit. XD

8. Since warm weather is coming, what is your favorite summer activity?

When I was younger I loved swimming a LOT. But after a…traumatic experience that involved a lake and some itchy bugs…well, it made me a little wary. 😛 I love basketball, rollerblading, and swinging most. ❤

9. Name your best childhood memory.

*tries to remember childhood* I’m…kinda drawing a blank here, which is really sad. XD But I do remember we used to have a tire swing in our backyard at our old house. I would love to just sit in there and swing or have Dad push us as high as it could possibly go. Those were fun times. ^_^

10. What were you like as a kid? (good, bad, artsy, funny, etc…?)

Well, I suppose I should be honest…I wasn’t a very good kid. I’m told I was really naughty, and I had a hard time focusing. But I think I was also really creative and curious, which inspired my interests of writing now. I read my favorite books over and over again and I would write down all the good dreams I had in a special notebook. (Really, what’s changed? XD )

11. If you could invent anything, what would it be?

Hmm…A special device that when you connected it to your head, it wrote down exactly what you were thinking? I could go for one of those! XD

Alright, that’s a wrap!

Here are my questions:

  1. What is your oldest memory? How far back do you remember?
  2. If you could have a super power/magic ability, what would you choose?
  3. If someone was going to play you in the movie of your life, who would you want cast?
  4. If you could learn any instrument instantly, which would you choose?
  5. If you were so famous you got mobbed every time you went outside, what would be your go-to disguise?
  6. If you had an animal sidekick, what animal would it be? Could it talk? Fly? Shapeshift?
  7. What book/series would you love to be made into a TV show/movie?
  8. What villain from a book or movie would you most love to see transformed into a good guy?
  9. What’s the theme song of your life?
  10. Iron Man or Captain America? Superman or Batman? Marvel or DC?
  11. What is the most shocking plot twist you’ve ever read in a book? (You don’t have to say what it is, just what book it’s from! 🙂 )

Okay, so I don’t really know who’s received these awards, so if you’ve already done either of them, don’t feel obligated, but my nominations are as follows:

Winter @ Winter’s Falling Fast

Deborah @ The Road of a Writer

Jenelle @ Jenelle Schmidt

Elise @ E.E. Rawls

Savannah @ Scattered Scribblings

Lisa @ Pickle’s Pen and Trinkets

Bernie @ Bernie’s Musings and Doings

Kate Marie @ Story and Dark Chocolate

C.B. @ The World of the Writer

Madi @ The Book Owl and

Faith @ The Writer’s Song

I can’t wait to see who answers these questions! ^_^

That was so much fun! Thanks again to Tracey and Elise! 🙂 What about you? Do you have any addicting apps? What were you like as a kid? Let me know in the comments below!until-next-time-1

I’m Back! // Describe Your WIP in Three Words Tag

Well, hello, peoples! Wow…I didn’t really anticipate this hiatus of sorts…I guess March had a lot more goings-on than I had originally thought. So, sorry for deserting you, but I’m back! And with a tag too! I saw this a bit ago on Deborah’s lovely blog, and thought it looked like a lot of fun. The original tag was on Twitter, but instead, she did it on her blog.

Imprint ~ fairy-tale, written, inky

~~

The D ~ dangerous, deceitful, villainous

~~

You Could Say ~ whimsical, strange, mystical

~~

Sciamachy ~ icy, intense, quiet

~~

Not Found ~ futuristic, pixelated, black

~~

Wanted for Time ~ dreamy, feelsy, insane

~~

Crown of Thorns ~ sleepy, lethal, heart-wrenching

~~

That’s the tag! It was so much fun trying to describe my novels in just three words…I can barely do it with an unlimited amount of words. XD Also…Did you miss me? 😛

Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag // Book Photo Shoot!

Hello guys! Just a short post for today, but it was so much fun to do. 😀 I saw this tag a while ago and thought it looked like a fun photo-op. These are all pictures I took and edited using Pixlr. I hope you like them! 🙂

~ Best Color Combo On A Book Cover

I know I’ve gushed over this cover before, but I have to do it again because it’s just so PRETTY. The colors of maroon, gray, and white look just lovely together and the detail work is so neat and intricate.

dscn15861.jpg

~ Best Typography/Font On A Book Cover

I love, love, love the title font! It’s so swirly and curly and the contrast with the author’s name is really well put. ❤

dscn15911.jpg

~ Best Simple Cover

I’ve had this book since forever. I remember really sympathizing with the MC, who’s a homeschooled girl. XD Story aside, the cover is stunningly simple and so delightful! ❤

dscn15941.jpg

~ Best Endpages

Okay, so, this is the hardcover edition of Winter. And all the rest of the books I own in the series are paperback. Naturally, this very much annoys my OCD tendencies, but I think I can live with it, considering how cool the endpages are. 😀

WinterCollage

~ Best Map

I loooove maps in fantasy books. And this one is no exception. The world of Six of Crows is so cool and we get to see a lot about the culture of each place. And, you know, the sea creatures lurking in the water is an added bonus. XD

SixofCrowsCollage

~ Best Naked Hardback

Even though I didn’t enjoy Illuminae as much as I thought I would, I have to give credit where it’s due. This is an AWESOME cover. The dust jacket is suuuuper shiny, which was a bit troublesome during the picture-taking, but it looks really cool with or without it.

IlluminaeCollage

~ Best Back Cover

I picked up this book at a local bookstore…I maaay have just bought it because of the pretty cover. I know, shallow, but it can’t be helped. In this case, I think I like the back cover a smidgen more than the front, if only because of the abundance of time-like words. 😀

TheLostTrackofTimeCollage

~ Best Chapter Headers

These headers aren’t the fanciest by any means, but I love them anyway. I adore cogs and clockwork and the like, and it’s just so pretty and simple. I love me some steampunk! 😉

IllusionariumCollage

~ Best Illustrations

This is another book I may have bought purely for the cover. Although I didn’t particularly enjoy the story too much, the illustrations are EPIC. All actiony and stuff. XD And yes, that is a Loki staff necklace and a mini replica of Thor’s hammer. I am quite proud of them. 😀

ZodiacLegacyCollage

~ Best Spine

This book is MASSIVE. But I still love it so much. The spine is so nice and smooth and the font is twirly and fun. And it has that nice, buttery feel to it, so that’s a plus.

LittleWomenCollage

~ Favorite Cover On Your Shelves

Yes, I came back to Six of Crows. What can I say? IT’S SUCH A COOL COVER. The way the crow’s wing melts into the city, creating an illusion… I LOVE it.

dscn16461.jpg

There we go! Wow, it was so much fun taking those pictures! I loved experimenting with props and such. 🙂 Do you have any favorite book covers? Let me know down below!

Life Lessons Learned From Fantasy Tag

February Fantasy Month Banner

Hello bloggers! Sorry for the slight hiatus; life matters got in the way, but I’m back with a tag! Jenelle very recently tagged me to do this, and since it’s February is Fantasy month, I thought it would be the perfect thing to do!

Here’s the rules:

1. Link back to my blog

2. Use the image above

3. Tell us 5-10 lessons you’ve learned from reading a fantasy book (or watching a fantasy movie) – lessons can come from multiple sources, as well, of course

4. Tag 2-4 other bloggers to keep the game going

Let’s begin!

~

The Tales of Goldstone Wood by Anne Elisabeth Stengl7069751

This is probably my favorite modern allegorical fiction to date. I love all of the subtle nods to the Gospel and how each character plays an important role in each book. Lionheart, especially, is one of my favorite characters, showing the picture of man and flesh. (Though, he does turn around in the end, but…spoilers… 😉 )

6741865The Real Life series by Nancy Rue

These are technically not fantasy, but they have one very special aspect that makes them more on the fantastical side. They’re also for real the only books that have ever made me want to cry. I love how relatable all of the people are, how even if you’re going through a rough time, there’s always hope. In this case, in the form of a living book. The Living Book. I love all of them so, so much, but my favorite will forever be the first one, which tells the story of a girl with ADHD. They are touching stories that I hope I’ll never forget.

The Neverending Story by Michael Ende27712

I read this for the first time a couple of years ago and I simply LOVED it. There are so many interesting places and moments, that I couldn’t possibly recount my favorite. But I do remember while I was reading, I was always waiting for the moment when Bastian would return home. And that filled me with a realization. That even though ‘going on adventures’, and ‘befriending dragons’ is lots of fun, home will forever be where you belong and where your heart will yearn to be.

607014Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine

I read this when I was really young, and I remember thinking it was the best book I’d ever read. Now that I’m older, my thinking hasn’t changed by much. Ella’s such a fun, spunky, lovable character, and she really taught me that even if things seem tough right now, things will always turn out in the end. Even if that end is hard to see and ridden with evil-stepsisters and man-eating ogres. 😉

The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo76920

This was another childhood favorite, and I still love it to pieces. There are so many lessons buried deep in the story, but the one that caught me most was forgiveness. It’s so easy to fall into the ‘everyone else should be apologizing to me’ thinking, and totally disregard forgiveness. It makes you humble. And in God’s eyes, ‘the meek shall inherit the earth’. It’s not hard to see why this masterpiece won a Newbery Award.

24605019The Word Changers by Ashlee Willis

I love this book so much. I loved all the bookish themes and near allegories sprinkled throughout the entire book. The one that really jumped out at me is the allegory of the Author. As in, in order to let the Author regain control of the story, we must allow ourselves to be written into His grand story, that is the life He has for us. And that means letting Him guide us by His Spirit. And in my opinion, this book desperately needs a sequel. Please?

~

Whew, that’s the tag! And it was a lot of fun! As for tags, I tag…

Elise @ E.E. Rawls | Savannah @ Scattered Scribblings | Winter @ Winter’s Falling Fast | Bernie @ Bernie’s Musings and Doings |

Thanks again for the tag, Jenelle! And if you’re reading this and want to participate in the Fantasy Month fun, I encourage you to do this tag! Or if your in a writing mood, Jenelle has a short story contest on her blog with a link-up. I’m considering a story, and hopefully I’ll have it up sometime this month!

What about you? Have you learned any lessons from fantasy? If so, what are they? Let me know down below! ❤
