Strangest Browser Searches {September Edition}

strangest-browser-searches-1

Hey guys! So, this post is going to be a little different today… I was trying to come up with a blog post idea, when I got the sudden impulse to look at my search history… Oh dear… XD

Nonetheless, I thought it would be great for a laugh, and maybe even a touch of inspiration. I’ve put them into categories, Innocent, Getting Stranger, and What Even. Let me know if you like this kind of post and I might make into a monthly thing, or maybe even a tag…?

Innocent…

fantasy items in literature

Okay, so, I’m a writer and I do this kind of stuff for research. You would think there would just be a list of magical items from literature, right? Well, after a bit, I kinda just gave up hope. Apparently, Google thinks I mean Final Fantasy items… So I compiled my own list off the top of my head instead. XD

who is the girl in rogue one

A legitimate question. I had no idea what her name was until I looked it up. Do they say it in the trailer? I don’t know… *shrugs*

the old Barbie site

So maybe this one is kind of…embarrassing. But. I seriously loved that site as a kid. You could go in all the different rooms of Barbie’s house and play games. Good times. But, unfortunately, I can’t find a way to play any of the old games or look at the old site! *sniff*

candy shops with white chocolate

You would be surprised to find that there is little to no white chocolate when it comes to candy bars. This is a tragedy and must be addressed, obviously.

word for unreactive expression

This was one of those times where I was pretty sleep deprived, and therefore couldn’t think. I mean, there’s got to be a word for it… Oh yeah, impassive. *shakes head*

quince

A little-known fruit I did a report on. Nothing exciting here.

Getting Stranger…

jobs that don’t pay well

I’m a writer. Most Some of my characters are poor, and I need to know these things. Is it so wrong?

book in which if something is written it happens

Not the best wording ever, but I’m sure you’ve heard of books that if written in can make certain things happen. I wanted to know if it was a single book in and of itself or if it’s just an idea. Google doesn’t know what I’m talking about, that remains to be seen.

websites that sell futuristic tech

I have a few book ideas that take place in the future, and I was curious to see what’s already been developed and what hasn’t. The results are scary… But good writing material!

what do you dislike about infjs

I, being an INFJ, am always trying to improve on myself. And its not like I’m going to ask my real-life friends what they think of me. That’s where the internet comes in. XD Results are sparse, (which is a…good thing?) but evidently INFJs can be too harsh on themselves (which I agree with immensely, personally), which in turn upsets other people.

draw a stickman

Just, follow this link. It’s very muchly fun. πŸ™‚

What Even

kuduo pot

So I read this book, The Grimm Legacy, by Polly Shulman, and it has something called a kuduo pot in it. It’s a pot that takes away something important to you, say, your sense of direction,Β in exchange for something else (from the repository in the book, usually). How cool is that? I mean, it’s not, good or fair maybe, but still…And I kinda wanted to use that idea.Β So I went to look up what a kuduo pot actually was…and got nothing. It was made up by the author. *applause for her* But since I’m not an idea thief…well, there goes that idea.

how to turn poptropican back into person when she is a pig

Oh my, does this ever need some explaining… XD If you’ve never heard of Poptropica, it’s a cute little online game where you can create a little person, go on quests, and play with your friends. It’s quite fun. Well, me and my siblings were playing one day, and somehow, I managed to turn my little sisters’ person into a pixelated pig.Β Um…oops. XD And since I had no idea how to turn her back, this search was needed.

piercuhop

Um…what? Yeah, I don’t know either. I think one day I was trying to read a note my Mom had written…And I couldn’t decipher it. (Sorry Mom! XD ) But I don’t really know why looking it up would’ve helped. Because it didn’t.

abilities snakes have

This, in and of itself, is not strange. The reasoning behind it, however…is another story. XD So, a certain character in my Imprint series, may or may not become a snake-like monster at one point…*feels incredulous looks being pressed at me* Yeah…so.

…There you are. Some of my strangest browser searches this past month. What about you? As a writer, reader, or anybody, do you look up weird stuff? Please tell me I’m not alone… XDΒ Also, do you think this could be a tag somehow? I would love any ideas you have!

Until next time! ❀

  2. Haha you’re not alone! I look up the strangest stuff… mostly medical terms and treatments but a lot of other stuff too.

    1. Good to know! XD Yeah, I tend to look up that kind of stuff too. But a lot of strange things too… πŸ˜€

      1. Yea. One time my history was left open and my mom was using my computer and she kinda just gave me a look and walked away… πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  3. Those are pretty awesome. I think the absolute strangest search (or at the very least the most fruitless) I had to do was trying to find a description of what it might look like if two dogs or wolves got into a fight. Yeah… good luck on that one. Pretty much the only thing I could find was enormously long lists of articles written by members of PETA about how dog-fighting is inhumane. “I didn’t mean THAT kind of dog-fighting!!! I just meant two dogs… on their own… attacking each other. It happens. Come on!!!”

    LOL

I do a lot of searches on architecture in various parts of the world/time periods. Also, foods in the middle ages. Um… ship lingo/terminology. Lots of name searching.

Fun idea for a post. How do you even find your own search terminology history? I would be up for doing this as a tag!

You could just do something like: for the tag, list at least 5 of your strangest browser searches you’ve done for writing. Then tag 2 friends. Or something like that!

    1. Haha, thanks! And wow…you wouldn’t think it would be that hard to find something about dogs fighting with each other… XD Yeah, I do a lot of food searches and name searching especially too. πŸ™‚
How I look up my search history, though it may be different for different browsers, is I click the little star next to my home button on the right side of my toolbar and there should be three tabs that say Favorites, Feeds, and History. Then I just click to History. But again, it may be different in other browsers. Yes, this could be a really interesting tag! I really like your idea too! I totally give you permission to do it. I’d be curious to see what you come up with… πŸ™‚ Thanks for reading! ❀

  5. Haha, I love this. xD As a writer I also have really weird search history, that the average person would be completely confused and creeped out by. xD I’ve googled things such as, “why some dead people have their eyes open, and why have some have theirs closed.” xD
